Hernia on a dog - how soon should it be operated on?

My dog has had to have 3 hernia fixed as the vet thinks she has a weak stomach lining. It all depends on how bad the hernia is and type as there are different types. Some can wait some can't. It is common for puppies to have them and usually they can wait till the puppy is 6 months old and been repaired the same time as the dog is neutered but if the hernia looks like it is or might become strangulated it need fixed urgently. When ever you have a pet there is always a chance that they might become ill or injured so need urgent vet care. You need to be prepared for that that is why good pets insurance is such a good idea.
